One target appears at a random board position. Easy, medium, and hard settings change board size and target–distractor similarity. Selecting a distractor adds an error; selecting the target completes the board.
The page reports observable search time and errors. It does not infer mental state, cognitive health, visual-field size, or age-related change.
Easy uses 25 cells, medium 49, and hard 81. Symbol, letter, and number sets use different target and distractor forms, so changing the set changes visual features even when difficulty has the same label.
The target position and distractor choices are randomized for each board. A completed record stores target set, difficulty, time, and errors.
A shorter time with extra distractor clicks is not the same response pattern as a shorter accurate search. Keep both values visible instead of compressing them into one score.
Practice can improve familiarity with a symbol family. Compare the same difficulty, target set, viewport, zoom, and input method across several recent boards.
Multiple Object Tracking marks several targets before movement, then removes identifying features. Symbol Search shows explicit targets and asks a binary present/absent question in a short row. This page asks you to point to one odd target in a larger stationary field.
Because their response rules differ, times and accuracies from the three tools should not be placed on one common scale.
Display size, contrast, font rendering for letter and number sets, input precision, and browser load affect a board. The task is not a calibrated vision or clinical assessment.
Completed records stay in localStorage and can disappear when site data is cleared. General visit analytics do not turn those local scores into a personal training account.
